Grand Cayman Yoga TeacherDanielle Gentilcore – Professional Yoga Teacher

I was born in New Jersey and at the age of three was enrolled in gymnastics lessons as an outlet for my endless energy.  I began to learn balance, coordination and concentration.  I progressed in gymnastics through dedication and willpower.  By the age of eleven I was competing at the elite level throughout the United States and competed in the Junior Olympics.

All the attributes I obtained in gymnastics contributed to my success throughout high school.  After my gymnastics career ended, it was only a short while before I was involved in track, cross country, cheer-leading, diving, aerobics, weight lifting and water skiing.  I began teaching gymnastics as a part-time job in college and was able to share the strengths I had learned with others.  Teaching children to trust their feet and balance on a four inch beam was truly rewarding, however, it wasn’t until many years later, when I reflected on these experiences, that I realized what I had to share with others.

I moved to the Caribbean after college, met people from all parts of the globe and my eyes opened to other cultures.  I realized traveling would be a part of my life, a part I have chosen to embrace.  I have traveled to Central America, Cambodia, Vietnam, Alaska, Hawaii, the Sierra Nevada Mountains and many more truly amazing parts of the world.  I have been inspired by these places, people and cultures which has molded me into who I am today.  With many more cultures to visit, who I will become tomorrow is an adventure I look forward to.T01-YA-TEACHER-ERYT-200

With my strong dedication to work, I became stressed out and my yoga journey began in 2006.  I felt an instant connection with yoga, which allowed me to quiet my mind and release tension.  Over time I began to slow down, turn inward and find the important things in life.  Breathe, Live, Discover!  I experienced the powers of yoga and began to transform, something I had never found in any other physical activities.  When I reflect back on my first yoga class, gazing out at the endless horizon on the waters of the Caribbean Sea, I see the beginning of my journey as a yogini.  On this journey I have been filled with compassion and excitement and each day brings a renewed passion for life.

In 2009, I journeyed to Marianne Wells Yoga School in Costa Rica to deepen my practice and earn my 200-RYT certification.  I have been teaching yoga full time ever since and I am currently an experienced registered yoga Teacher (E-RYT 200) with the Yoga Alliance, and obtain over 2500 hours of teaching yoga, a combination of group, private lessons, workshops, trainings & retreats. In 2012 I received my Relax and Renew certification with Judith Hanson Lasater. Practicing yoga to me, is in everything I do, not just part of my daily asana practice.  Continuing education is a large part of my dedication to yoga which allows me to continue to grow as a teacher and on a personal level.  I teach Hatha yoga; a combination of meditation, breath (pranayama), alignment, and vinyasa on the island of Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; lead yoga adventures and retreats in to Little Cayman & Central America.
