Danielle Gentilcore Professional Yoga Teacher E-RYT 200
I was born in New Jersey and at the age of three was enrolled in gymnastics lessons as an outlet for my endless energy. I began to learn balance, coordination and concentration. I progressed in gymnastics through dedication and willpower. By the age of eleven I was competing at the elite level throughout the United States and competed in the Junior Olympics.
All the attributes I obtained in gymnastics contributed to my success throughout high school. After my gymnastics career ended, it was only a short while before I was involved in track, cross country, cheer-leading, diving, aerobics, weight lifting and water skiing. I began teaching gymnastics as a part-time job in college and was able to share the strengths I had learned with others. Teaching children to trust their feet and balance on a four inch beam was truly rewarding, however, it wasn’t until many years later, when I reflected on these experiences, that I realized what I had to share with others.
I moved to the Caribbean after college, met people from all parts of the globe and my eyes opened to other cultures. I realized traveling would be a part of my life, a part I have chosen to embrace. I have traveled to Central America, Cambodia, Vietnam, Alaska, Hawaii, the Sierra Nevada Mountains and many more truly amazing parts of the world. I have been inspired by these places, people and cultures which has molded me into who I am today. With many more cultures to visit, who I will become tomorrow is an adventure I look forward to.
With my strong dedication to work, I became stressed out and my yoga journey began in 2007. I felt an instant connection with yoga, which allowed me to quiet my mind and release tension. Over time I began to slow down, turn inward and find the important things in life. Breathe, Live Discover! I experienced the powers of yoga and began to transform, something I had never found in any other physical activities. When I reflect back on my first yoga class, gazing out at the endless horizon on the waters of the Caribbean Sea, I see the beginning of my journey as a yogini. On this journey I have been filled with compassion and excitement and each day brings a renewed passion for life.
In 2009, I attended Marianne Wells’s Yoga Teacher Training and received my 200 hour certification. Currently I am an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 200) with the Yoga Alliance, with over 1000 hours of teaching yoga, a combination of group and private lessons. Practicing yoga to me is in everything I do, not just part of my daily asana practice. Continuing education is a large part of my dedication to yoga which allows me to continue to grow. I teach Hatha yoga; a combination of meditation, pranayama, alignment, and vinyasa on the island of Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; lead yoga adventures and 200 hr teacher trainings around the globe.
