Yoga Adventure in Honduras & Guatemala-Summer 2012
Journey Into the Mayan World &
Discover A Deeper Connection To Your Purpose
Join Danielle Gentilcore & Chantelle Cooper on this 9 day exploration of the Mayan world. Strengthen your passion for living and find balance in your life by connecting deeper within yourself, as we explore from Copan Ruins, Honduras overland to Lake Atitlan, Guatemala.
Each day will be theme focused, to help shape and live your life to the fullest potential. Our sessions will consist of pranayama, meditation, and asanas, an all levels alignment flow; we recommend you have knowledge of the basic yoga poses & previous practice on the mat to help you on this nine-day transformation. With daily practice beyond asanas, you will learn how to truly embody living your yoga; your connection & purpose will become clearer from your heart on this magical adventure. The adventures are carefully planned to allow time for balance. Restorative classes will be offered on various evenings.
If you are coming from Grand Cayman, where I live, we will fly into La Ceiba, Honduras and meet up with those coming from other parts of the globe in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. We will join together and begin our trip on a 3 hour overland private bus to “Copan Ruinas”, Honduras. For the next four nights we will stay in a 100 year old home, Hacienda San Lucas, retreat center, which is located above the ancient Mayan Ruins.
The Copan Ruins are located in the western part of Honduras, about 60 kilometers from the border with Guatemala. The ruins are known for its rich stone sculptures and intricate hieroglyphs which make this sacred site a feature attraction along ‘La Ruta Maya’. A guest teacher will guide us in a Yoga Maya Fusion practice, at the archaeological site of Copan, exploring Maya Cosmology & the science of yoga.
The setting of this ancient Mayan civilization is pristine! The sky is free of pollution and you can watch the shadows of passing clouds move along the mountains and over the tobacco fields. The jungle that surrounds Copan is lush, tall and filled with sounds of a variety of animals.
Our yoga adventure continues overland via private bus into Guatemala until we reach Lake Atitlan.
Here we will take a 15 minute boat ride to the yoga retreat center, Villa Sumaya, this is where we will stay for the remainder of our trip, surrounded by three volcanoes and the splendid beauty of the 12 Mayan villages. We will explore the indigenous way of life, unwind, adventure up a volcano, visit a colorful market, take-in the illuminating views, experience a traditional Shaman protection ceremony and unite with the Amigos de Santa Cruz(help the lives for the remote villages of Santa Cruz la Laguna, through the SEVA project). On our last day we will journey into the the colonial city of Antigua where you can explore this captivating cobble-stoned small town and the unique cafes.
